#29 – Vivacity

Gry Vilde Østensen, aka Vivacity (House alias VIVA), is a Norwegian DJane who’s been part of the club scene for many years, starting out as a dancer at events in Oslo and at clubs in Ibiza in the early 2000. The word ‘vivacity’ comes from ‘vivacious’, meaning energetic and full of life, which describes both her personality and taste in music. Vivacity’s been a Trance addict for decades, but the time being she’s specially devoted to her new found love, Peak-Time Techno – which she likes to blend with Tech Trance and Mainstage tunes to create dynamic sets.

Vivacity started learning mixing in 2022 and it has been a life-changing experience for her. She spends every available hour on music projects – her number one hobbies are live-streaming on Twitch, making compilations to post on SoundCloud and hunting for new releases. She’s been invited many times to do guest mixes for various concepts, such as record label Extrema and digital radio Afterhours FM. Lately she’s also been diving into learning about music production, with the goal of releasing her own tracks.

The past year Vivacity has performed several times at two well-renowned Techno clubs in Oslo, Ostara and Storgata 26, and at events like Trance Lillehammer Fall Edition. In 2024 she got her first international gig after winning a mix competition, playing at the legendary Monday Bar Cruise alongside major names such as Space 92 and Bryan Kearney. She’s also had the pleasure of warming up for House giant Eelke Kleijn at ‘Get Lost presents Halloween Weekend’ at Eventhallen, performing as VIVA.

Vivacity’s passion for dancing shines through from behind the decks, and she’s all about spreading joy, having fun and engaging the crowd. No matter whether she plays Techno, Trance or House, there will be driving rhythms and intriguing melodies throughout. She often experiments with transitions to create new sounds and loves making her own mashups. There’s never a dull moment with Vivacity!
